We are extremely sad to let you know that Zeke recently passed away. He is buried under his favorite tree at the ranch and is mourned by all of us who knew and loved him.
Zeke was dubbed the “Lady’s Man” due to his suave and debonair attitude! He loved everyone, especially the ladies, but it never hurt to give him a treat or two for extra measure. Zeke was almost thirty years old and battled Cushing’s disease, chronic arthritis, and several other debilitating conditions.
Zeke’s gentle demeanor made him a favorite for all who visited the ranch, especially those initially afraid of horses. This gentleness allowed him to be registered with the Delta Society through Hand-in-Paw so that he could visit children unable to travel to SOHYR.
In this photo Zeke was “decorated” for our annual Christmas cards. This is something that can only be done with a very, very special horse!
He was a joy to be around and will be missed every day. Please send your favorite Zeke story to info@sohyr.org and we’ll share it on our website.
