I saw freedom working in action when I got the chance to volunteer at Spirit of Hope Youth Ranch over the summer. For most of the kids and teenagers coming to the ranch, they are being introduced to new people in a new place and they seem to be a little shy and intimidated. However this intimidation seems to dissipate slowly as the freedom takes its place - - their cares and sadness replaced with laughter and joy. For most, after the session they seem to be different people. As a volunteer a couple months ago, one group of girls my age came to the ranch that really touched my heart. As it goes, they were all very quiet at the beginning. Over the six sessions the girls started to open up to us. The looks on their faces as they rode around the ring was a sight that could have brightened the gloomiest days. They never seemed to have a care in the world when they were riding. This is my idea of freedom.
